PostModernism - Creativity

What do you understand by ‘creativity’ and to what extent have you been creative?

How have you tried to facilitate and encourage your own creativity? There were limits when making the CD cover, the only thing I could really use my own creativity was when I had to come up with a font idea and also the colouring of the font.

Did you experience limits/blocks on your own creativity? My creativity was limited due to having boundaries of what I could and cannot do, I could only decide on the font and colouring of the font, so only these things were taken into account when making this CD cover.

How easy/difficult was it to be creative while still working to the brief? I found it quite difficult due to the boundaries you had to stick to and therefore you couldn't let your mind adventure too far when creating the CD cover.

Did working within conventions stifle your creativity?

To what extent did you need to work with others and ‘bounce ideas’ off other people to be truly creative? We didn't really share as many ideas as we did on creating our final Digipaks but we still said what we liked about our peers CD covers and what would look good as far as font and colouring of the font was concerned.

How much of your creativity was about trying to picture things in your mind’s eye? You could picture things and how they turn out with your mind's eye due to having a template like structure that you had to go by whilst in the creation of the CD cover and therefore you could see if things were going to turn out looking good.

How much of your creativity was about trial and error? Trial and error played a massive part in the creation of the CD cover this is because you had to keep trying and trsting what fonts and colours looked good on the actual picture that you were provided, making it quite a long process to come out with something good.
To what extent was a lack of confidence an issue in terms of your creativity? Confidence didn't really seem to be a problem as you were already provided with parts of the CD cover such as the picture, album title and band, I went for what looked ok in terms of the font and colours that were used.

To what extent was a lack of technical competence/confidence an obstacle to your creativity? As far as technical competence goes we weren't really aloud to show our best ability when creating the CD cover as we had guidelines to stick to so it did prove to be an obstacle.
